AI Search Visibility for Consumer Durables Brands in India

Durables buyers ask AI to compare models on price, specification and trust before they visit a store. Brands in this sector are often absent from those answers for whole product categories. Our scans of paint and cement brands, the nearest published parallel, show how large that absence can be.

What the nearest published scans show

We have not published a durables AI visibility audit. Two of our five brand scans cover building products, where buyers compare brands and products in the same way. They are independent research on public brands.

UltraTech Cement was absent from waterproofing, putty, tile-fixing, crack-filler and fast-track cement prompts. JSW Paints was absent from 33 of its 50 prompts, including interior paint, the largest spend category in its industry. The scan's own conclusion was that this is an absence problem and not a ranking problem. Read the Owned-Citation Gap study.

How durables buyers ask AI

Durables prompts compare models on price, specification and reliability, often by product line and use. The prompt universe is wide because a brand sells many product segments. In our Polycab research we mapped 14 product segments from the interviews. A durables brand needs a citable page for each segment it wants to be named in.

What we do for a durables brand

  1. Build the prompt universe from product segments, specifications and use cases.
  2. Scan six engines and compare you with each named competitor, product line by product line.
  3. List the segments where you are absent and the pages that engines cite instead.
  4. Publish answer-first pages for each segment, with specifications stated plainly and schema that matches the page.
  5. Work the sources engines already trust in your category, including retailer pages, comparison articles and original research.
  6. Re-run the same prompts and report the change.

Durables experience

For Polycab we ran 619 stakeholder interviews, 32 internal and 587 external across 7 cities. We benchmarked 50+ electrical brands and built the live Polycab website. For Bajaj Electricals we built DynaPrice, a pricing engine that reprices Google listings as competitor prices move. It cut cost per sale by 52% and lifted click-through rate by 300%. We have also worked with Panasonic, Croma, Kohler, ASUS and Morphy Richards. See the Polycab research and the DynaPrice case study. Ongoing AEO work runs from ₹75,000 a month with no prompt limit.

Frequently asked questions

Ask for a product-segment view, not one brand-level number. A durables brand can be strong in one segment and absent in another. We build the prompt universe by segment. See our ranked list of AEO agencies in India. Use the checks in our buyer's guide.

Engines name the brands with citable pages for the product in the question. In our JSW Paints scan the brand was absent from 33 of 50 prompts. UltraTech Cement was absent from five product categories where other brands had published citable content.

Yes. DynaPrice for Bajaj Electricals is an example of pricing technology we built and run. For AEO the product data matters because specification answers have to be stated plainly and match your catalogue.

A properly run baseline reads out in weeks. The date depends on the number of product segments and engines, and we agree it when we scope.

From ₹75,000 a month, scoped by the time we assign to the account. There is no prompt limit.
